Teenagers are awesome

If you survive adolescence, you can take on the world!

a few words to teens from Kristin

If you have found this page, chances are there is a good reason.

Some teenagers I know struggle with their thoughts and feelings around…

  • Being bullied
  • Being touched inappropriately or violated sexually
  • Feeling sad or crying more than they want
  • Feeling nothing at all
  • Not feeling they belong
  • Getting into a lot of trouble like
  • Skipping school
  • Suspended
  • Fighting
  • Arrested
  • Gang involved
  • Cutting
  • Sexual acting out/overly sexualized behavior
  • Being physically abused
  • Seeing parents fight
  • Parents who are divorced or separated
  • Thoughts of suicide
  • Feeling mean towards others
  • Telling the truth
  • Feeling they have to be perfect
  • Sexting

Do any of these sound like you?  Come see me and we can figure out together with the adults in your life how to make life better for all of you!  We can sit down and first just talk about what you are good at, and then use those strengths to help with the other areas of concern.

You are valuable and have many gifts to offer our world, you just may not see them all!

And if you do know your strengths, that will make it easier to work on your therapy goals. I truly believe that many of the things listed above are what others see, but they are usually symptoms of a deeper issue. It’s that deeper issue that I’d be honored if you would share with me. I can also help your parents understand you better, so that they get why you are cutting in the first place for exmaple, and address the real problem for example.

You may be able to sleep better, feel more confident, make more friends, feel more in control of your emotions, have more people like you (even your parent(s)) and be able to accept the past and move forward.

If you’ve been the victim of any form of abuse, I’m very sorry that this happened. You never deserve to be abused sexually, physically, emotionally, spiritually or socially. Click here to read about different forms of abuse.  The effects of abuse or neglect can be long lasting, and may not go away on their own. Don’t hesitate to call or tell your parents to give me a call to help work through some of the very complex feelings and messages abuse can cause.

No one is perfect.

You don’t have to be either.

But who couldn’t use a little guidance at some point in their life?

Remember: You are valuable just by being you!!

Due to the expansion of the COVID-19 pandemic, LIFEPOINT IS GOING VIRTUAL until the pandemic passes!

Lucky for all of us, like many other insurance companies, Blue Cross is now covering virtual sessions (aka telemedicine)! We care so deeply for our clinicians and clients we want to do our part in stopping this from spreading.

As of Monday 3/16/20, we are all set to support social distancing AND keep continuity of care through online video sessions from the comfort of your own home!  Please call our office or contact your therapist for further information.

We are also offering 30 minute virtual sessions for those needing to manage anxiety and depression from the COVID situation itself. Please call our office to set this up!

Our number is the same: 224-208-5228
